Who we are
Autism Caregiver Connection & Support Canada is a caregiver-led, volunteer-run non-profit that offers free virtual group and 1:1 peer support to caregivers of autistic children, youth, and adults across Canada.

Our story
Autism Caregiver Connection & Support Canada was founded by Janet Alexanian, a Toronto parent who saw first-hand how everyday spaces—classrooms, playgrounds, community programs, businesses, even casual social settings—often aren’t built with autistic people and their families in mind. Like many caregivers, she and her partner found themselves constantly explaining, negotiating, and advocating simply so their son could be included.
Listening to other parents, Janet heard the same stories of isolation, advocacy fatigue, and feeling out of place. She also recognized how powerful it felt when caregivers found one another and could finally speak honestly about their lives. She brought together a small group of caregivers who shared a vision of providing peer support for autistic families.

What began as a grassroots effort has grown into a national, federally incorporated non-profit dedicated to giving caregivers a place to be heard, understood, and supported by people who “get it.”
Our mission
Our mission is to create an accessible, non-judgmental space where caregivers of autistic people across Canada can:
· Be met with empathy and respect,
· Share lived experience, and
· Draw strength through connection.
